HOLOGRAM ZOO INCURSION – Monday, 27 October 2025

A Hologram Zoo is visiting Wilston on Monday, 27 October 2025 (Week 4). A Hologram Zoo is like a normal zoo, except all of the animals are made out of laser light, and you can put  your hand straight through them! Brisbane-based Axiom Holographics recently received a $1 million grant from the Australian government and to say thank you, are providing Queensland schools free STEM incursions about the science behind 3D and hologram technology. This free incursion is open to all students from Year 3-6. All participating students receive a pair of 3D glasses (very 1950s retro) and a small 3D projection box to take home. The presentation lasts about 45 minutes and will be conducted by an Axiom Holographics staff member.

BRIGHT FUTURE STEM INCURSION

Bright Future STEM program will be visiting Wilston on Tuesday 18th November and Wednesday 19th November to present to Year 5 and 6 students.

The program aims to raise students’ awareness of the diverse career opportunities made available through the study of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

The presenting organisation, Australian Resources and Energy Employer Association (AREEA), has developed this program due to a decline in these areas of study, despite a forecasted growth in demand for these skills for the future workforce.

This unique national program gives students in Years 5-6 the opportunity to engage with industry

STEM professionals, learn about diverse and rewarding careers and participate in hands-on,

interactive STEM based activities.

There is a free incursion. Year 6 students will participate in a session on Tuesday, and Year 5 students on Wednesday. There are two sessions per day.

The attached Media Permission Consent Permission Slip asks parents to provide consent (or otherwise) for photographs or video footage to be taken by the program co-ordinators of students during the incursion. The photographs and/or video footage is for promotional purposes only. Please return completed Permission Slips to your child’s class teacher. Students without completed Media Permission Consent Slips will still be able to participate in the incursion, but will be photographed from behind or in  other non-identifying ways.
