FROM THE PRINCIPAL
STEM Convention
Around 20 Wilston Year 6 students participated in the Regional STEM Convention on Thursday afternoon, joining dozens of other budding STEM students. Our groups shared their knowledge and understanding of solar power, water filtering techniques and strategies to reduce food waste. This was the first time that WSS students have had this opportunity and we were proud of them and of the fact that Wilston was selected as the host school. Congratulations to our water filtration group who won an award on the evening. Thank you to the P&C and the Tuckshop for supporting this event through provision of light refreshments.
Gala Days
I relished the opportunity to accompany our AFL teams at the first Gala Day in week 1. The students played some fabulous footie, and across the school, the reports of Wilston students were all very positive. The second Gala Day takes place today, Friday 17 October.
Year 4 Camp
Reports from our annual Year 4 camp have been very positive. This is the first time that the Year 4 campers have spent 2 nights away, and by all accounts it has been a very positive experience for them. Of course, as always, it is important to acknowledge the time that the staff give to camp, spending time away from their families to supervise and support the students.
City Collective Legacy Project
On Tuesday this week, our School Captains presented their Legacy Project work to The City Collective at QACI. We have been genuinely impressed with the work they have completed, and their presentation made us feel very proud.
Staffing plan for 2026
Currently, with the Leadership Team, I am working on developing the workforce plan for 2026, which includes allocation of teachers to year levels and roles for next year. This is quite a significant piece of work and involves making predictions concerning the number of students enrolled at the start of next year.
Please email your child's teacher if there is information that you feel we are not aware of, that is of relevance to class placement. If you are leaving our school at the end of the year and are not returning in 2026 (excluding Year 6), please complete this form so we can accurately prepare class lists.
Parents can expect to be informed of their child’s teacher in Week 10 of Term 4.
2026 Senior shirt designs
The Year 5 students have submitted many designs for next year’s senior shirt. They are very impressive, with some real standouts! We will select a shortlist of around 5 and then students will get to vote.
School captain and leaders process underway
The 2026 School Captain selection process has begun. This is being led by our Deputy Principal, Angela Romano. School Captain speeches take place on Tuesday 4th November. We look forward to those.
Announcer for a Week
I thoroughly enjoyed working with the students who secured the 'Announcer for a Week' at the Fete last term. You will definitely hear from them again this term.

Disco
Can't wait - I love a school disco. Thank you to the co-ordinators who are doing a wonderful job organising this event. Please don't be a stranger - volunteer as your help will secure the success of this event.
See you at the disco, Wilston!
