FROM THE P&C
Last fortnight we thanked (in advance) our ‘Super 8’ - the incredible team of parents who gave their time over the last several months to plan the extraordinary event that was Fete 2025. What a phenomenal day our community, families and neighbours were able to share together on the oval, thanks to the work of this awesome team.
A comment heard on the wind from within the crowd on Saturday was an excited “this is better than Ekka!”. We couldn’t have agreed more then or now.
All of the volunteers who tipped in some free time to help on the day, thank you, particularly our set up crew working in breezy conditions. There were many parents who served double or triple shifts to keep up with the crowds or to fill volunteer gaps and we are so grateful for your generosity and being available to support this important fundraising venture across the day.
To all the parents who brought their children and enjoyed the afternoon in the sunshine, thank you. It was fantastic to see so many families at school either side of sporting events and finals. We are glad you could be there.
We also acknowledge the 16 stall managers who took up the challenge to design, set up and run the stalls present on the day. Thank you. It takes time to make these stalls a success and we appreciate your energy.
The P&C's thanks also go to the school admin team and the teachers who were present on Saturday manning stalls, assisting with crowd control or performing on stage (did you see the Wilston Whisperers?! - absolutely phenomenal!). A special shout out goes to our Principal, Mr Sawbridge, for allowing the P&C free run of the school on a weekend and granting administrative support in the lead up to the event. The fete would not be possible without the school leadership team and the P&C working side by side, thank you Michael.
We are now seeking feedback from our community for things to bear in mind next time - if you could spare a few minutes to send in your thoughts that would be appreciated. Please email secretary@wilstonpandc.org.au, or write/print a note and drop an envelope up to the office which will make it's way to the P&C mailbox. We always like to hear from you, but particularly after an event like this, your feedback now (positive or constructive) would be invaluable to the 2027 team.
We will be taking some time to rest before the next events planned in Term 4. For those with an eagle eye and dates already marked on calendars, there are some changes to upcoming events. The next big item on the calendar is the kids' halloween disco in late October (final date to be confirmed), and more information will be available on this at the end of September. Our disco crew are busily working away on those details as we speak. Any other event earlier mentioned has been paused for now.
Our next General Meeting is 18 September before the holidays, and the final P&C wine and cheese mixer will be held before the General Meeting on 16 October (starting at 6:30pm). We look forward to catching up with more of you on these dates.
Enjoy the next few weeks as spring gets underway, and remember to thank our school volunteers when you see them.
