Week 4 done! Almost half way through Term 3 already. This week, we have celebrated School Support Staff Week, so big shout outs and thanks to our support staff. School support staff include Schools Officers and IT Technicians; Administration Officers and Business Managers; Speech Language Pathologists, Cleaners and many other positions. As a community, we really value and appreciate the work that this team does and the positive contribution they all make to life at Wilston.

Since the last edition of this newsletter, our school hall was officially opened by the Minister for Education and the Arts. It was a splendid morning and we appreciated the attendance of many families and parents. The hall is now officially open for business! While I am mentioning the hall, it is worth noting that we had a meeting with the contractors yesterday to discuss a plan to open the remaining section of the oval. Some remediation work still needs to occur and it is likely that the section of the oval at the Carberry Street end will remain closed for some time. However, we anticipate being able to open the section near the school buildings much sooner.

It’s only 22 days until the Wilston State School Fete! Thank you for all the donations that have been flowing through the office. It promises to be a spectacular event. A mysterious but very grand hat and sceptre have appeared in my office. I wonder what they could be for?

A reminder that next week, the annual Ekka Holiday is on Wednesday and as such, school will be closed.  I think that’s all for now. Have a great fortnight!
