NEWS FROM ECOMARINES
Reducing, Reusing, Recycling – Juice Cups
Juice cups are one of our most popular tuckshop items — in fact, we sell approximately 450 every week! While they’re a hit with students, they’re not so popular with our environment. Every day, more and more juice cups are not being disposed of correctly, creating an issue we can no longer ignore.
To help tackle this problem, we are excited to launch a Juice Cup Recycling Competition!
Starting next week (Week 9), if you purchase a juice cup, you can enter the competition. (Please see the poster below and around the school for details.)
As we are starting later than planned, we will announce the winners at the start of Term 3.
What’s Been Happening in the EcoMarines?
- Kahoot Quiz Fun
To help educate our EcoMarine team, we created a fun and engaging Kahoot quiz covering a range of environmental topics, both local and global. Did you know that Moreton Bay is home to the majority of the world’s sea turtles? - Juice Cup Cartoon Mascot Competition
Our talented EcoMarines put their creative skills to the test by designing Juice Cup Mascots for our competition posters. It was tough to choose, but congratulations to Ollie (Year 4), Bella (Year 3), and Tara and Madeline (Year 5) for their fantastic designs!
- Environmental Treasure Hunt
This week, our team went on a treasure hunt around the school, capturing the beauty of our natural surroundings — and also identifying some areas that need a little more care (yes, we spotted some rubbish too!). - EcoMarine Theme Song/War Cry
We are currently working hard on our 2025 theme song and war cry. We can’t wait to share it with you very soon!
Something Exciting Is Coming in Term 3!
Stay tuned! We have something very exciting planned for next term — keep your eyes peeled and your ears open!
Eco-Legends Spotlight
A huge thank you to our Eco-Legends who have taken the time to care for our environment. Your efforts have prevented rubbish from entering our waterways, harming our native wildlife, or breaking down into dangerous microplastics. THANK YOU, legends!
